Backpack from a Jacket

When Mandy told us she had a unique leather jacket left to her by her Aunt, but didn't know what to do with it, our brains couldn't help but whirl with ideas. Rather than leaving it in the back of the cupboard Mandy asked if we could make her a backpack.

We took some time to explore designs and create a pattern, clean and check the integrity of the leather. Next we cut the jacket into pieces, conditioned the leather and added a stabiliser, before cutting out our drafted pattern pieces and sewing together.

A total labour of love, with a few challenging moments. But we are so pleased with the outcome and so was Mandy!
